My Senpai Is Annoying Wiki

Harumi Takeda (武田 晴海, Takeda Harumi) is one of the tetartagonists in My Senpai is Annoying. He is an office worker who often help his coworkers and especially Futaba Igarashi.

Appearance[]

Personality[]

Takeda is loud and often times tactless. He isn't cruel, but often says what he's thinking without considering how it sounds to others. He enjoys teasing his kohai Futaba Igarashi in this manner most of all. Early on in the manga, he can come across as a little sexist, but that changes as it goes on. A lot of this kind of dialogue was omitted from the anime.

Plot[]

Both the anime and manga begin with Takeda and Futaba Igarashi returning from a sale's call where a wiped out Igarashi falls asleep on Takeda's chest and Sōta Kazama seizes the opportunity to take a picture, adding filters to give them bear and cat features before sending it presumably to Tōko Sakurai as both characters seem aware of the chemistry between Takeda and Igarashi that they cheer them on from the sidelines to some extent. From there, both the anime and manga follow a loosely linear path though it is interrupted by flashbacks and interjections where it's hard to tell when they occur.

The anime and manga lack any real forward moving plot other than the protagonists dancing around their feelings for each other. Igarashi is more transparent despite her tsundere leanings, and Takeda's being harder to discern.

Takeda takes his role as senpai seriously after a less than stellar introduction on Igarashi's first day where he mistakes her for a middle school student. It doesn't take long for them to fall into a comfortable rhythm and to build a mutual respect, even though Takeda chooses to show his admiration in the form of busting Igarashi's chops more often than not. He often compliments Igarashi on how she's developed as a worker and as an adult. Their relationship has taken on a more personal tone (though Igarashi would disagree), and Takeda has also taken it upon himself to have her back outside of work when she was accosted by perverts on the subway, drunk bar patrons or street toughs looking for trouble. He has also defended her from her overbearing grandfather who tends to treat Igarashi as a child, despite Takeda doing the same thing himself. It implies that he only does so to tease her, and doesn't do so in earnest.

Throughout their various adventures (which are better read or watched than listed piecemeal here), Takeda and Igarashi grow closer to the point that they regularly visit each other's places, and have had sleepovers (in the most platonic way possible). They have also spent Christmas together (the Japanese romantic/dating equivalent of Valentine's Day) and exchanged gifts.

There are several points where it seems like Takeda might view their relationship as more than a mentorship situation though it has yet to be confirmed. He tends to ignore more pointed comments from Igarashi that could be considered flirtatious or bold. On two occasions he laughed it off and said that she couldn't have interest in a middle-aged man like him though this is usually preceded by a thoughtful silence. He has said to himself and the reader that she's too good for him. For a good chunk of the manga and all of the anime, it's unclear whether he is truly oblivious to Igarashi's feelings or if he is feigning ignorance to keep distance between them. Regardless, it closes overtime.

As of this posting, there is no resolution to their feelings and Shiromanta continues to keep readers on the edge of their seats on whether or not they'll follow-through.

Etymology[]

  • The name Harumi means "clear weather" (晴) (haru) and "sea, ocean" (海) (mi).
  • Harumi's surname Takeda means "military, martial" (武) (take) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta/da).

Trivia[]

  • Takeda has the same birthday as Futaba Igarashi.
  • Takeda's favorite drink is green tea as he doesn't like things that are overly sweet.
  • Takeda is often represented by the color purple or a bear, sometimes both at the same time.
  • Takeda is a former judoka and worked his way up to a paneled belt, but it's implied he no longer trains regularly.
  • Takeda potentially grew up in an area where snow was uncommon so he will sometimes get up early to help the custodian shovel in front of their office on snowy days to appreciate it a little longer before work.
